Partnership Opportunities

We rely on partnerships, sponsorships and donations to fund our Breastfeeding Bags.  Thank you to all who support us!

Doula Partnerships
The Breastfeeding Project would like to collaborate with doulas to mutually support each other. We will be providing breastfeeding bags to 600 pregnant women in the Central Florida area. Each bag will contain a handout to explain what a doula is and provided names and contact information for each doula that chooses to participate. We will also list our Doula Partners and contact information on our website.

We are requesting a donation of at least $25 to participate. Please enclose a check payable to The Breastfeeding Project, your contact information to be shared and mail to:

What is a Doula?
What is a Birth Doula?
A birth doula is trained non-medical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and just after birth. The birth doula’s goal is to empower the mother to have the most positive, safe, and satisfying birth experience possible, as defined by the mother. The role of the birth doula may include the following:

v Providing educational information regarding the birth process
v Assisting with creating and carrying out a birth plan
v Providing comfort measures through pain management, breathing, and relaxation techniques, massage, and positioning during labor
v Encouraging partners to assist and become involved in supporting the mother during labor
v Advocacy and communication for the family in a medical setting
v Assistance with breastfeeding
v Facilitating uninterrupted bonding time between baby and parents
v Offering a comprehensive list of community resources to help the family deal with any postpartum problems

Whether planning a medicated or unmedicated delivery, or a planned Cesarean birth, a birth doula is there to support the woman in any decision she makes.

Studies have shown that the presence of a doula can shorten labor, reduce complications, decrease the need for pain medications, reduce the rate of unplanned cesarean births, improve newborn health, decrease the chances of postpartum depression, and strengthen the breastfeeding relationship.

Many birth doulas provide their services in most any setting including hospitals, birth centers, and homebirths.

What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula helps care for new families in the first few weeks, and sometimes months, after birth. The postpartum doula’s services nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn.

The role of the postpartum doula may include the following:
v Helping with physical and emotional recovery after birth
v Facilitating mother-baby bonding
v Aiding parents in adjusting to their new roles and their new environment
v Providing information on newborn care, soothing techniques, and infant feeding
v Breastfeeding support
v Looking after the baby to give the parents time to sleep, shower, or eat
v Educating siblings and partners about how to ‘mother’ the mother
v Helping with care of other children
v Light meal preparation
v Referrals to local resources such as parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation support and support groups

Photography Partnerships
We are currently inviting photographers to advertise their work by submitting photographs to our website Gallery. We are interested in photos related to breastfeeding, pregnancy, childhood and parent/child relationships. Each photograph will state “image by (photographer or company name)” underneath the image with a link to your website. Additional contact information will be provided on a separate webpage titled Our Photographers. A list of photographers who support our project will also be included in our Breastfeeding Bags that will be distributed to 600 pregnant women.

We request a donation of $25 per image up to 5 images to advertise for one year. It is the photographer’s responsibility to obtain permission from all persons photographed for release of their photograph. Please enclose a check payable to The Breastfeeding Project and mail payment to:
